Lu s Castro Prepares for Levante s Clash with Real MadridLu s Castro Prepares for Levante s Clash with Real Madrid

Luís Castro, the coach of Levante, reflected on his team’s upcoming match against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu this Saturday. He also announced that Ugo Raghebour, the club’s new signing, will be included in the squad.

Castro acknowledged the challenge posed by a wounded opponent, stating, “Whether now or in the future, they are always a strong team. I don’t anticipate significant changes. They will take to the field aiming to win, just as we will.”

When discussing Real Madrid’s current situation, he mentioned, “I don’t focus much on their circumstances. I have plenty of work here and am not concerned about what unfolds in Madrid. For us, it’s just another match against a good team, and we will focus on our own performance.”

In terms of team availability, he noted that Pampín would not be participating. He added that Matías Moreno and Kervin Arriaga are experiencing unusual fatigue. “Matías won’t play, and we’ll decide on Arriaga tomorrow. We have changed our methodology, which is why fatigue is common now.”

Regarding Manu Sánchez, Castro stated, “I won’t confirm that Manu will play. There are other players who can fill the left-back position. However, Manu is working hard and striving to meet my expectations. Pampín is more accustomed to my requirements, but Manu is focused and improving significantly.”

On Ugo Raghebour’s status, he said, “He has integrated well. After undergoing medical tests and a fitness evaluation on his first day, he trained fully today and is ready to play.”

Discussing Kervin Arriaga’s potential departure, Castro remarked, “I haven’t spoken to Kervin about that matter. It’s natural for speculation to arise. As I mentioned before, the market is open, and if a good offer comes for the club, Levante will consider it. When the transfer window is open, clubs often show interest in our players. But for now, everything is normal.”

Castro elaborated on his discussions with Danvila, stating, “We cover a wide range of topics, and if I were to share everything, you might think we are losing our entire squad. We’re prepared for any eventuality. This readiness extends beyond individual players to all positions. If a significant offer comes in, we have to be prepared for potential changes. If Kervin departs, we have sufficient midfielders available.”

Regarding Etta Eyong, he expressed, “I have spoken with all players regarding their potential exits. Etta is crucial to us, but we are at the mercy of the market. In football, nothing is impossible. I understand the club’s objectives, but circumstances can change rapidly. This is true not only for Levante but throughout the football world.”

On the timing of facing Real Madrid, he commented, “Matches against them come when they are scheduled. I don’t reflect on whether this is good or bad timing. What matters is that we are playing them now. I do not believe they are lacking in quality. They may have lost, but they remain strong.”

Regarding the competition among forwards, he stated, “I would welcome having such challenges. Our three forwards have been performing excellently. I hope for more such dilemmas, as it means we’re in a good position.”

Concerning the defense and Carlos Peñaranda, Castro assured, “We have enough center-backs in the squad, along with other players capable of filling that role. Our youth team also possesses considerable talent ready to step in. I am not concerned.”

Reflecting on Matías’s condition, he clarified, “He is not injured but fatigued. When players are at risk of injury, I do not take chances. The season is lengthy, and based on my past experience, I won’t risk him. It is 99% certain that Matías Moreno will not play.”

On Ugo Raghebour’s playing style, he remarked, “Ugo is a player we sought to acquire in the summer. He was highly demanded, but Lille declined all offers. With my involvement, securing him became easier. Although it was a competitive process, the player’s determination played a crucial role. He is physically strong with excellent technical skills, offensive capabilities, and solid defensive attributes. I believe he will fit in well with us.”

When addressing aspects to improve upon from the first leg, Castro noted, “We haven’t focused on that particular match. Our team is adopting different strategies, and we have analyzed Real Madrid’s recent games instead of the 1-4 loss. Teams evolve over time, and we are concentrating on our strengths to be more formidable.”

Lastly, Castro commented on the challenge of preparing for the match with limited information about Arbeloa’s style, stating, “We have insights into the players’ characteristics, as individual skills shape the game. We also have information on how Arbeloa prefers to set up his teams.”
