Feyenoord finds itself at a critical juncture this month, according to journalist Marcel van der Kraan from De Telegraaf. In a recent episode of the podcast Kick Off, he provided insights into the current situation in Rotterdam.

Van der Kraan emphasized, “There needs to be some action. While all positions are adequately filled, additional players are necessary. Feyenoord is actively searching the market for potential loan signings. After spending 52 million euros last summer, they are unlikely to invest another 20 million during this winter transfer window. However, reinforcements are essential, as the current squad lacks depth, as demonstrated in the match against Heerenveen.”

He also drew comparisons with Ajax, noting the pitfalls of excessive changes in management. “Feyenoord’s situation is reminiscent of Ajax’s, where the continual dismissal of coaches has proven ineffective. The quality of players at Feyenoord is not particularly high, and some signings, such as Tengstedt and Borges, have not yielded expected results. Additionally, the team currently relies on only two central defenders, Trauner and Beelen, and one cannot count on Moder, who is still recovering.”

These observations underscore the urgent need for Feyenoord to make strategic moves in the transfer market to bolster their squad for improved performance.
