Inter Miami CF Pursues Germán Berterame from Rayados de Monterrey

Inter Miami CF has shown a keen interest in acquiring Germán Berterame, the forward from Rayados de Monterrey and the Mexican national team, as confirmed by sources to ESPN on Friday.

The Major League Soccer (MLS) team is reportedly prepared to activate Berterame’s release clause, which is valued at $15 million according to Mexican media reports.

Although a deal between Inter Miami and Rayados for Berterame has not yet been finalized, Monterrey’s sporting director, Jose Antonio Noreiga, acknowledged ESPN’s report later that day.

“I can confirm that there has been an approach from Inter Miami along with a proposal that is appealing to Berterame,” Noreiga stated.

“Germán is interested, and it could be beneficial for us as well. If we find the offer compelling enough and if Germán decides to leave, we will do everything possible to facilitate his departure and are already working on finding a replacement.”

Berterame made a notable contribution for Rayados on Friday night, scoring a goal during the team’s emphatic 5-1 victory over Mazatlán FC.

Prior to his stint at Rayados, Berterame played for Argentine clubs San Lorenzo and Patronato before making his Liga MX debut with Atletico San Luis in 2019. During his time with Atletico San Luis, the forward netted 31 goals in 93 matches across all competitions and secured the Golden Boot in the 2021 Apertura tournament.

In 2022, he joined Rayados, where he has since amassed 67 goals and 15 assists in 152 appearances.

His impressive performance in Liga MX has led to recognition from the Mexican national team, following his naturalization process, which enabled him to represent El Tricolor.

Although Berterame previously participated in the Argentina youth national team, his absence from the senior squad allowed him to switch allegiance to Mexico without needing to file a FIFA one-time switch.

Other MLS teams, including FC Cincinnati, had previously expressed interest in Berterame. However, an attempt to trigger his prior release clause ended without an agreement between the parties.
