Jordi Cruijff is set to begin his role as technical director at Ajax in February, where one of his primary responsibilities will be to appoint a new head coach. Originally, the plan was to delay this decision until after the current football season.

Recently, it was announced that Fred Grim would continue as the head coach until the end of the season, which he confirmed during an interview with ESPN: “It is until the summer. That has been clearly stated now.” When asked about his aspirations for a permanent position, Grim responded, “I want to clarify that I am not focused on that in that way. This might be a part of career planning, something I have never engaged in. I have always made my choices based on feeling, and this decision was also made instinctively.”

Lentin Goodijk from Voetbal International recently highlighted potential candidates for the position: “Iñígo Pérez from Rayo Vallecano has been under consideration for some time, while Eder Sarabia from Elche and Míchel from Girona have also made notable impressions. Roberto Martínez, one of Cruijff’s closest friends, has an expiring contract as the head coach of Portugal. Ajax is in search of an ambitious coach with a strong support team who is willing to invest in the project. Once clarity regarding the coaching situation is achieved, the club will also need to make decisions regarding the roster for the upcoming season. Additionally, a new head scout will be required to replace the departed Kelvin de Lang.”
