Kenneth Taylor s Transfer Journey From Ajax to LazioKenneth Taylor s Transfer Journey From Ajax to Lazio

Last summer, Kenneth Taylor was on the verge of leaving Ajax on two separate occasions. The offer from FC Porto was well-documented, but a lesser-known proposal from Wolverhampton Wanderers also emerged. The English club was willing to pay €30 million, but the midfielder was not interested in the move.

Everyone anticipated that Taylor would depart Amsterdam over the summer. “It had to happen this summer. It started off well, and then Wolves came in first,” said his agent, Guido Albers, in an interview with Goedemorgen Eredivisie. “They presented a transfer fee exceeding €30 million. This set the tone, and it was clear for Ajax that this amount had to be reached. That thought lingered with me throughout the summer.” However, Taylor ultimately decided against the deal. “Kenneth felt it wasn’t the right choice. We had a discussion with the coach, and while the narrative was appealing, Kenneth didn’t believe in it himself.”

As a result, Taylor remained in Amsterdam, but this winter he finally made a move, opting for SS Lazio. According to his agent, this decision lifted a weight off his shoulders. “I was here a year and a half ago and mentioned that Kenneth would surely leave in the summer. That didn’t happen, and it weighed on me for a while. The moment had come, and the interest was genuine. I was 100% convinced it would happen. Now Kenneth is happy, and so am I.” Ajax will receive approximately €17 million from Rome, which is significantly lower than the potential Premier League transfer.
