Fullkrug s Struggles Continue Following Loan to AC MilanFullkrug s Struggles Continue Following Loan to AC Milan

West Ham United manager Nuno Espirito Santo expressed his support for the loan transfer of Niclas Fullkrug to AC Milan, as the former Werder Bremen and Borussia Dortmund striker had been struggling to find his form in London. Since joining West Ham in 2024, the Germany international has not scored at the club level, partly due to injuries that limited him to just 11 league starts since April 2025.

However, Fullkrug’s challenges have persisted at AC Milan, where he has yet to find the back of the net in his first four league appearances under manager Max Allegri. His difficult start in Italy was compounded by a burglary incident, where he returned to his hotel room after training to discover it had been ransacked.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, an estimated €500,000 worth of items, including watches and jewelry, were stolen from a safe, along with personal belongings belonging to his wife. Fullkrug is currently collaborating with local authorities to identify potential suspects, while residing in temporary accommodation since his loan to the Serie A contenders. Milan has the option to make Fullkrug’s loan permanent at the end of the season.

Footballers are often targeted by thieves, as evidenced by recent incidents involving Premier League players Yves Bissouma and Raheem Sterling.

On the field, AC Milan is performing well under Allegri, although they find themselves six points behind city rivals Inter Milan at the top of Serie A. The Rossoneri have a game in hand and hope to narrow the gap when they face Lecce on Sunday.

Currently unbeaten in 19 league matches, AC Milan’s only defeat this season came from Cremonense in the season opener. After two consecutive draws against Genoa and Fiorentina, the team secured a 3-1 victory over Cesc Fabregas’ Como on Thursday. Marc Oliver Kempf scored first for Como, but Christopher Nkunku equalized from the penalty spot shortly before half-time. Adrien Rabiot then netted two goals in the second half, leading Milan to a crucial win.

Following their match against Lecce, AC Milan will prepare for a clash against Roma next weekend. With no European commitments this season and having been eliminated from the Coppa Italia by Lazio last month, Serie A remains their sole opportunity for silverware.
