Real Madrid s Vinicius Faces Uncertain Future Amid Contract TalksReal Madrid s Vinicius Faces Uncertain Future Amid Contract Talks

Vinicius is approaching the final year of his contract with Real Madrid, prompting the La Liga giants to consider significant decisions regarding his future. Although discussions for an extension with the Brazilian international are on the table—especially following Xabi Alonso’s recent dismissal from his coaching position—Vinicius has been discreet about his intentions, keeping all options open.

Plans are being made for further negotiations in Madrid, with a collective aim to reach a mutually beneficial agreement. However, the allure of lucrative offers from the Saudi Pro League is hard to overlook, alongside interest from prominent English clubs.

Chelsea is among those intrigued by Vinicius, but Morris, who has experience as both a player and coach in West London, doubts that a high-profile transfer will materialize. He commented to AceOdds, “Personally, I love Vini Jr. I thought he was outstanding in the Supercopa de Espana. What a goal he scored; he had [Jules] Kounde on toast, didn’t he?”

Morris continued, “Would I want to sign him? Absolutely. But I believe he’s slightly too old for this ownership. At 25 going on 26, I’m unsure if we can afford the financial outlay required for him. Although we’ve made significant sales, including a hotel and a women’s team, I’m not certain if our accountants have more moves left to facilitate a transfer for Vini Jr.

“If you’re Vinicius, would you consider Chelsea right now? Given our current state, it appears unlikely. It’s a tempting thought but feels more like a fairytale than a feasible reality. I don’t see it happening.”

Morris also addressed speculation regarding Chelsea’s pursuit of a new first-choice goalkeeper in the summer of 2026, aiming for an upgrade over Spanish shot-stopper Robert Sanchez. The club has shown interest in AC Milan’s Mike Maignan, who is approaching free agency. However, Morris believes Chelsea missed an opportunity when they allowed Manchester City to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain.

“I don’t necessarily think Chelsea should pursue Mike Maignan aggressively. When Donnarumma became available, he was the player they should have targeted,” Morris remarked.

“Robert Sanchez has improved this season, but is he the long-term solution to elevate us over the next few years? I’m not convinced. If we’re looking to replace him, we should aim for someone who is undoubtedly superior rather than merely a competitor.

“Sanchez has excelled in commanding his area, especially in handling crosses and initiating quick attacks. If Maignan is to replace Sanchez, he must be a clear upgrade because Donnarumma is a world-class goalkeeper who can elevate a team’s performance significantly.”

Sanchez has been a consistent choice for both Enzo Maresca and the new Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior this season. Nevertheless, Chelsea remains keen on bolstering their squad, suggesting that potential moves for both Vinicius and Maignan could arise in the future.
