Sky Germany reports that Schalke 04 is engaged in discussions to bring Edin Dzeko back to Germany, but they are encountering competition from international clubs.

The Königsblauen are currently in talks with the Bosnian striker regarding a potential transfer in the upcoming winter window. Dzeko, who is 39 years old, has six months remaining on his contract with Fiorentina, the club he joined last summer.

However, Schalke faces competition from Paris FC, who is also interested in acquiring Dzeko. Paris FC not only offers the prospect of first division football but is also in a position to meet Dzeko’s salary expectations.

Dzeko’s career in Germany began with a significant impact. He joined Wolfsburg for €4 million in 2007 and became a pivotal player during Wolfsburg’s Bundesliga-winning campaign, forming a strong partnership with Grafite in attack. After three and a half years, he transferred to Manchester City for €37 million. During his time in Wolfsburg, Dzeko made 142 appearances, scoring 85 goals and providing 35 assists.

Currently, Schalke sits atop the 2.Bundesliga, holding a four-point lead over Elversberg. As they strive to return to the Bundesliga, the club is actively working to enhance their squad during the winter transfer window.

In addition to Dzeko, Schalke has also been linked with potential moves for Marin Ljubicic from Union Berlin to bolster their attacking options and Heidenheim goalkeeper Kevin Müller.
