Real Betis is making an intriguing move in the market for the upcoming summer season. The club’s youth academy, led by Miguel Calzado, has secured the signing of Suleiman El Haddadi, commonly known as ‘Sule’. He will join Betis Deportivo, managed by Dani Fragoso, for the next season. The 19-year-old currently plays for Leganés’ first reserve team in the Tercera Federación, but he has already made his debut with the senior squad in the Copa del Rey.

‘Sule’ is the younger brother of Munir El Haddadi, who has played for notable clubs such as Barcelona, Sevilla, Alavés, Getafe, and Leganés. Interestingly, the young forward, standing at 1.85 meters tall and possessing a playing style distinct from that of his brother, joined Leganés just weeks before Munir arrived at the club, where he is now competing in the Iranian league with Esteghlal. Suleiman’s budding career began in Las Rozas, from where he transitioned to Leganés’ youth team in 2024.

As confirmed by MARCA, Betis has ensured ‘Sule’ will be part of their youth setup for the upcoming season. His contract with Leganés expires in June, and as of January 1, he has been free to negotiate with any club for the next season. However, with the winter transfer market still open, there remains a possibility for both clubs to reach an agreement that could facilitate the young striker’s early arrival at the Ciudad Deportiva Rafael Gordillo for the latter half of the season, during which Betis Deportivo is fighting to maintain its position in Primera RFEF. The verdiblancos have already put forth a proposal that Leganés is currently considering.

With Suleiman on board, Real Betis will be acquiring a powerful player with strong finishing skills, who has already gained experience with the first team during this season’s Copa del Rey matches against Azuaga and Albacete. Eligible to represent both Morocco and Spain (having been born in El Escorial), ‘Sule’ hopes to find the right environment at Betis to elevate his career and ultimately reach elite status at a club where the youth academy is increasingly playing a vital role.
