Anticipation Builds for Ted Lasso s Season 4Anticipation Builds for Ted Lasso s Season 4

There has been no official announcement regarding the release date for the upcoming season of Ted Lasso, although teasers hinting at upcoming developments have emerged.

It has been confirmed that Ted Lasso, portrayed by Jason Sudeikis, will be transitioning to coaching a women’s football team after his return to the United States at the conclusion of season three.

In a 2025 episode of the ‘New Heights’ podcast hosted by Jason and Travis Kelce, Sudeikis stated, “We’re writing Season 4 now. That’s the official word. Ted’s coaching a women’s team, so that’s it.”

Additionally, a variety of new characters are slated to join the cast, as Sudeikis and the team aim to take the narrative in a fresh direction. Fans can also look forward to the return of several familiar faces.

Contract options have been exercised for actors Hannah Waddingham, Nick Mohammed, Brett Goldstein, Juno Temple, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift, ensuring that these popular characters will return. However, the details of their storylines remain under wraps.

Actor Toheeb Jimoh expressed his hopes for the new season, humorously suggesting to People magazine that he dreams of a “funeral for Sam,” before quickly retracting the comment. He further shared a desirable plot twist: “I want Ted to actually win something. He’s like, ‘It’s not about the wins and losses.’ I’m like, ‘Win. Win a trophy, bro. Win a trophy.’ Can you imagine his entire philosophy changes? Great, we’ll get like three more seasons. I’m down for that. Let’s have a revenge arc for Ted Lasso!”

The previous season concluded in 2023 with a gripping finale, showcasing Ted’s farewell to English football as he returned to his homeland, leaving the show’s future uncertain. In March 2025, it was officially announced that a renewal option had been triggered, with Sudeikis actively working on the new plot. Since then, those involved have kept details tightly under wraps.

When asked about the upcoming season, Jimoh stated, “I know nothing about it at all. I’m excited to get more info about it when everybody else gets more info about it; I actually get to be an audience member for this one, so it’s really exciting.” This statement suggests that Jimoh’s character may not be returning, as the storyline shifts to focus on other characters. Fans enjoyed the blossoming romance between Jimoh’s character and Richmond owner Rebecca Welton, played by Waddingham.

Season 4 of Ted Lasso is expected to continue from where the third season left off, providing insights into life in the United States, with filming having taken place in Kansas City. Cameras have also resumed operations in London. The official logline for Season 4 reads: “Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.”

Ted Lasso has proven to be a major success for Apple TV+, garnering 61 Emmy nominations and winning 13 awards in total. Sudeikis has received accolades as lead actor in a comedy series in both 2021 and 2022.
