Mohamed Salah is poised to make his return to Liverpool in the Champions League match against Marseille on Wednesday.

The Egyptian forward has been included in Arne Slot’s traveling squad after rejoining his teammates for training on Tuesday, following his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations.

In contrast, French center-back Ibrahima Konaté was absent from the midday training session and the squad list due to personal reasons, and it is understood that he has already returned to his homeland.

Salah departed for international duty last month amid uncertainty regarding his future at Anfield, following a dispute with head coach Slot. After being excluded from three consecutive matches, Salah gave an explosive interview following a chaotic draw against Leeds, in which he accused the club of undermining him during a difficult period.

He also expressed that he had no relationship with Slot and raised questions about his long-term status with the club—comments that led to his omission from the squad that traveled to face Inter Milan in the Champions League.

Upon returning to the team for a home match against Brighton, Salah came on as an early substitute for Joe Gomez. Shortly thereafter, he left for international duty in Morocco with his future still in jeopardy.

However, he appeared to be in high spirits during a training session open to the media before Liverpool’s trip to France for their upcoming league fixture.

In related news, Slot emphasized Salah’s importance to Liverpool, stating, “He is so important to us,” and mentioned that discussions are underway regarding his potential return to the squad.

Additionally, close friend Dominik Szoboszlai maintained daily communication with Salah while he was away but refrained from disclosing details about the forward’s mindset. “We talk about everything [but] that’s between me and him,” the midfielder remarked. “He will be back, and it’s the decision of the manager and the club. This matter is not just between us; it concerns him.”
