Tragic Train Accident Claims Life of Getafe Player s FatherTragic Train Accident Claims Life of Getafe Player s Father

The tragic train accident that occurred last Sunday in Adamuz, resulting in 42 fatalities, has profoundly affected the Getafe football community. On Tuesday, it was officially confirmed that David Cordón, the father of Davinchi, a player for the blue team, was among the deceased. At the age of 50, Cordón had a distinguished career, having played for clubs such as Atlético, Sevilla, and Recreativo de Huelva, and he was also a former international player for the Spanish beach soccer team. He was returning from watching the Getafe-Valencia match at the Coliseum when the accident occurred.

In light of this heartbreaking news, Davinchi took to social media to honor his father. He shared a poignant message on Instagram, stating, “I know that the Lord of Sorrows and the Virgin of Love are by your side, guiding me throughout my life. You will fill me with strength during difficult times, and I will always remember what you often told us: to always be happy and move forward.”

He continued, “Everything I do in this life will always be for the brightest star I have in the sky. As someone once told me: ‘When the road gets tough, only the tough will make it.’ You were always a fighter, and you taught me that from the very beginning. This is the greatest act of love I can show you—to prove that I can overcome everything and that I will never give up. I love you, Dad.”

Getafe also expressed their condolences following the death of David Cordón. They stated, “We deeply regret confirming the news that we would have never wanted to publish. We are filled with sorrow over the passing of David Cordón Cano, father of our player Davinchi, in the tragic accident in Adamuz, Córdoba. We met you seven months ago, and in that short time, you captured our hearts with your simplicity, kindness, and generosity. We will miss you greatly! Rest in peace, dear friend.”
