Feyenoord is currently pursuing Mats Deijl, raising concerns in Deventer about the potential departure of their captain from De Adelaarshorst this winter. Clarity regarding this situation is expected in the coming days. What is already confirmed, however, is that Milan Smit will no longer be with the team in Deventer, as he is set to be sold to Stoke City for a record fee.

Go Ahead Eagles is reportedly receiving a substantial sum of €5.5 million for the 22-year-old striker. According to Voetbal International, this transfer surpasses the previous record sale of Oliver Antman, who left for Rangers last summer for €4.4 million. Only a medical examination stands in the way of Smit’s transfer to Stoke City, currently positioned seventh in the Championship. If all goes well, the young striker is expected to sign a long-term contract in England soon.

As for Mats Deijl, it remains to be seen whether Go Ahead Eagles will lose another key player this winter. Feyenoord is actively interested in the wing-back and is reportedly preparing an initial offer, according to FR12. Deijl’s contract with Go Ahead Eagles runs until mid-2028, and Transfermarkt values him at approximately €2 million. The captain has been a consistent starter in every Eredivisie match so far this season.
