At Feyenoord, significant unrest is brewing. Coach Robin van Persie is under immense pressure, yet he continues to receive the support of both general and technical director Dennis te Kloese. This support comes despite a series of disappointing results and noticeable discord within the dressing room. Tensions escalated recently when van Persie had a confrontation with departing player Quinten Timber, resulting in shocking scenes. The lack of intervention has left many Feyenoord supporters incredulous.

The situation within the Feyenoord dressing room was made evident on Sunday. During a recent New Year’s reception, journalist Gouka confronted te Kloese, stating, “On Sunday afternoon, the coach had his forehead against Quinten Timber’s. You were there to witness it.” Te Kloese acknowledged his presence in the locker room more frequently lately but emphasized a principle of discretion, saying, “What happens in Las Vegas, stays in Las Vegas. However, that is not always possible here.”

Many supporters believe this incident should prompt immediate action, arguing that the appropriate response is van Persie’s dismissal. Commentary on social media reflects this sentiment, with statements such as, “If Van Persie and Timber truly confronted each other in such a manner, intervention by the director is necessary—at minimum, an official warning, fine, or suspension, potentially leading to dismissal. This behavior is not in line with our club culture and undermines authority. It is regrettable, but this cannot continue!” Calls for van Persie to be swiftly removed are growing louder, with some questioning, “Does van Persie need to engage in violence before being let go? How can you witness such an event as a director and not take action? And don’t suggest Timber was at fault; if a coach finds himself in such a position, he is clearly unfit for the role.”
