Sevilla FC Prepares for Upcoming Match Against Athletic ClubSevilla FC Prepares for Upcoming Match Against Athletic Club

This Wednesday morning, Sevilla FC completed its second day of training on the pitch at the Ciudad Deportiva José Ramón Cisneros Palacios. Following a draw against Elche on Monday and a recovery session on Tuesday, the team is now preparing for their next league match against Athletic Club this Saturday.

The latest injury concern is Tanguy Nianzou, who had to be substituted just minutes after entering the field during the match at Martínez Valero. According to club reports, the French defender is suffering from a low-grade injury to his right hamstring.

In addition to Nianzou, head coach Matías Almeyda was also without Marcao, Djibril Sow, Chidera Ejuke, and Akor Adams during Wednesday’s training. Marcao, who is serving a suspension for three of his six pending matches, worked out in the gym, while Sow missed training due to personal matters. The Nigerian players have been granted two days off following their direct travel from the Africa Cup of Nations to play against Elche.

César Azpilicueta, Alfon González, Alexis Sánchez, Adnan Januzaj, and Rubén Vargas are all continuing their recovery from respective injuries. Consequently, the Sevilla squad faced up to ten absences in training, necessitating the inclusion of players from the reserve team to complete the session. In addition to regulars Andrés Castrín, Oso, Manu Bueno, and Miguel Sierra, forward Álex Costa joined the training. Costa has participated in 16 matches this season, scoring once for Sevilla Atlético.

Sevilla has scheduled two more training sessions for this week. On Friday afternoon, Matías Almeyda will address the media ahead of the twenty-first matchday of LaLiga EA Sports. The following day, the Nervionenses will host Athletic Club at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán at 18:30 hours.
