Jean Philippe Mateta Expresses Desire to Leave Crystal Palace Amid Transfer InterestJean Philippe Mateta Expresses Desire to Leave Crystal Palace Amid Transfer Interest

France striker Jean-Philippe Mateta has officially communicated his desire to depart from Crystal Palace, drawing attention from several Premier League and European clubs.

Currently, Mateta has 18 months left on his contract at Selhurst Park and has indicated that he will not be extending his agreement with the club.

Italian powerhouse Juventus has made attempts to secure the striker this month, but they have yet to meet Palace’s valuation, which is estimated to be approximately £40 million. Additionally, Aston Villa, who have shown interest in Mateta for an extended period, are also keen on a potential transfer this month.

In a recent statement, Palace manager Oliver Glasner acknowledged that the club is open to offers for Mateta. “There will be a price that Crystal Palace will accept, given that he has 18 months left on his contract. We would proceed with the deal if JP wants it. If no one meets that price, he will remain with us,” stated the Austrian.

Crystal Palace, who triumphed in the FA Cup last May, recently sold key midfielder Eberechi Eze to Arsenal during the summer transfer window and have lost captain Marc Guehi to Manchester City in a £20 million deal this January.

Glasner, who announced his resignation from the club at the end of the season, expressed strong criticism of the Palace hierarchy following the team’s defeat to Sunderland, suggesting that the squad has been ‘abandoned’ due to the club’s recruitment strategies.

Earlier this month, Crystal Palace faced a shocking exit from the FA Cup, being eliminated by non-league Macclesfield, marking one of the tournament’s most unexpected upsets.
