Cristina Palavra, the wife of footballer Dani Rodríguez, recently took to Instagram to express her profound disappointment regarding the actions of Mallorca’s coach, Jagoba Arrasate. Following a public critique from Rodríguez after not playing against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu, the coach sidelined him from the team. Consequently, the club imposed a 10-day suspension and stripped him of his captaincy.

In the aftermath of this incident, Dani Rodríguez did not play another minute for Mallorca and ultimately rescinded his contract with the club in December, concluding a seven-and-a-half-year tenure that included two promotions to Primera and a goal in a Copa del Rey final. This Wednesday, it was officially announced that he has signed with Leganés, committing to the club until June, with an option for an additional season contingent upon meeting specific targets.

In her heartfelt message, Palavra praises Dani’s unwavering passion for football, stating, “Your love for this sport is so immense that you would have played anywhere just to feel like a footballer and pursue your passion, even if it meant starting from scratch. This reflects your greatness, humility, and character.”

Moreover, she marks Dani’s transfer to Leganés as the beginning of a new chapter for their family. “Today marks the start of a new era, but reaching this point required you to endure one of the toughest trials of your life. I have been there, witnessing and feeling everything alongside you.”

Palavra poignantly notes, “You faced an enormous injustice for upholding simple values. You bore that punishment with dignity and held your head high, believing that an opportunity would eventually arise. Yet, it did not come, leading to the longest, quietest, and most painful months.”

“For four months, you trained every single day without fail, rising each morning to ride your bike, maintaining your routine, and working on your body and mind with Eduard Mascaró, sometimes even alone when he advised you to rest. Without a team, a field, or a locker room, you poured your heart and soul into your training from Monday to Monday, pushing your body when your mind was exhausted. Yet, through it all, you never stopped. You never gave up. You never ceased to believe.”
