Sky Germany, Sport Bild, and Kicker have confirmed that Borussia Dortmund has completed a multifaceted loan agreement to transfer Julien Duranville to FC Basel. All sources indicate that a distinctive arrangement between Borussia Dortmund and Basel has been established. The 19-year-old will relocate to Switzerland on loan, without an option for purchase, while Basel has secured a re-sale clause.

Journalist Patrick Berger has reported that Basel initially requested a purchase option for Duranville, but Borussia Dortmund declined their request. The inclusion of the re-sale clause represents a compromise. From the perspective of Basel, this arrangement is a strategic move.

German Football News has consistently highlighted Duranville’s disciplinary issues under head coach Niko Kovac. Even if his loan period proves successful, Dortmund may consider permanently transferring the twice-capped Belgian international this summer. Notably, despite not having played for Dortmund this season, Duranville still holds an estimated market value of €7.5 million.
