Matarazzo’s Promising Start in LaLiga and January Nominations

Pellegrino Matarazzo could have had an even more impressive debut in LaLiga had he secured a victory against Atlético de Madrid, as his team had the opportunities to do so. Additionally, Real Sociedad could have achieved a perfect nine points from nine, following their victories against Getafe and Barcelona, coupled with advancing to the quarter-finals of the Copa after eliminating Osasuna. Despite not achieving a full record, Matarazzo has been nominated for the Best Coach of January, a title he will compete for against his rival Claudio Giraldez, who is also on a winning streak with Celta, and Michel, who leads Girona, a team that has successfully moved away from the relegation zone.

Matarazzo is not the only member of Real Sociedad celebrating the team’s improvements during this first month of 2026.
