Mats Deijl Set to Join Feyenoord Amid Transfer Developments

Mats Deijl is poised to become a player for Feyenoord in the near future. As reported by SoccerNews on Wednesday, a verbal agreement regarding the transfer has been reached. This has been confirmed by Marc van Hintum, the technical director of Go Ahead Eagles. However, van Hintum has raised an important caveat regarding the impending transfer of the defender.

The transfer process is not entirely complete. SoccerNews’ transfer expert Mounir Boualin had indicated this on Wednesday. Currently, the final details are being negotiated. “Everything looks promising for both parties. However, the deal will only be finalized once the contracts are signed, which has not yet occurred. Nonetheless, we are optimistic about a positive outcome,” van Hintum stated to ESPN. In an earlier conversation with De Stentor, he noted that the discussions are primarily focused on the finer points of the agreement.

Regarding the contract, various reports suggest that Deijl may have a clause allowing him to transfer to Feyenoord for a relatively modest fee. However, van Hintum has denied this claim, stating that the clause existed only until last summer. Speaking to RTV Oost, he remarked, “We are actively working on this matter, and it is not yet settled. It will only be finalized once the contracts are signed. Those arrangements were made for the summer, not this winter. This narrative is absolutely incorrect,” he asserted firmly, addressing the alleged clause.
