Sevilla FC s Stance on Kike Salas Amidst Transfer InterestSevilla FC s Stance on Kike Salas Amidst Transfer Interest

Sevilla FC finds itself needing to generate revenue before pursuing new signings, yet the club is determined not to undervalue its assets. In this context, several European clubs are eyeing players from the Sevilla roster, particularly those with youth and potential. One such player is Kike Salas, who has recently caught the attention of CSKA Moscow. According to reports from Canal Sur Radio’s ‘La Jugada’ and confirmed by MARCA, the Moscow club has made a formal offer for the defender, which Sevilla has promptly rejected as insufficient.

The details surrounding CSKA Moscow’s proposal for Kike Salas vary among sources. Reports from Salas’s camp suggest an offer close to 8 million euros, inclusive of fixed and variable components. However, Sevilla claims the offer amounts to only 5 million euros, which falls short of the 6 million euro market valuation listed on Transfermarkt. This indicates that Sevilla is unwilling to part with one of its most promising academy graduates, especially considering they turned down nearly double that amount for Juanlu Sánchez last summer.

Despite having limited involvement at the start of the season, Kike Salas’s situation at Sevilla has changed significantly. With Marcao facing a six-match suspension and recurring injuries to César Azpilicueta and Tanguy Nianzou, Salas has regained his starting position. Within a matter of weeks, he has transitioned from a secondary role to becoming indispensable for head coach Matías Almeyda. His consistency and aerial strength could further enhance his market value, which was previously estimated at 10 million euros just a year and a half ago.

“We do not want to sell ourselves short. We need to find a balance and work towards improvement,” stated Antonio Cordón, Sevilla’s director of football, ahead of the recent match against Elche. He maintains a clear message: despite financial pressures, the club is not willing to sell at any cost. Sevilla understands that a low-value sale of Kike Salas would weaken the squad and not resolve their market situation. Unless CSKA significantly improves their offer, Kike Salas is unlikely to leave in January.
