Nottingham Forest is making significant progress towards securing a loan agreement for Napoli striker Lorenzo Lucca.

The Premier League club is expected to finalize a deal that includes an option to purchase the Italy international. Lucca, who joined Napoli last July from Udinese, was part of a loan arrangement that carried an obligation to buy.

At 25 years old, Lucca is anticipated to travel to England on Thursday to complete his move to Forest. Head coach Sean Dyche has been actively searching for a new striker, particularly given the uncertainty surrounding the return of last season’s leading scorer Chris Wood, who has been sidelined after knee surgery in December.

Although Lucca has only scored once in 16 Serie A appearances for Napoli under coach Antonio Conte—having made just four starts—he did find the net once in the Coppa Italia. Last season, he had a more prolific record with 14 goals at Udinese but has faced challenges in securing playing time since joining the defending champions.

In addition to Lucca, Forest is also exploring the possibility of acquiring his Napoli teammate Mathias Olivera as they evaluate their left-back options. Furthermore, Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen has been considered by Forest this month, with the Norway international available for £40 million.

Currently, Forest sits 17th in the Premier League, five points clear of the relegation zone, and is set to face Braga in Portugal in the Europa League on Thursday.
