Arne Slot has acknowledged that he does not anticipate Liverpool making any signings during the January transfer window; however, he emphasized that the club will continually seek opportunities in the market.

Last summer, Liverpool set British transfer records by spending nearly £450 million ($609 million) on new players. Despite this significant investment, the team is currently grappling with long-term injuries to striker Alexander Isak and defenders Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni, leaving the Premier League champions with limited options in both attack and defense as they enter the season’s second half.

Despite these injury challenges, Slot does not foresee any new arrivals before the window closes on February 2, unless an ideal candidate emerges. “That is what I expect,” he stated. “However, I always maintain that if an opportunity arises in the market, where we believe we can strengthen the squad, this club will always strive to do so. At this moment, I anticipate that things will remain largely unchanged.”

Liverpool recently recorded a convincing victory over Marseille in the Champions League and will resume their Premier League campaign with a match against Bournemouth on Saturday. Currently, the Reds are positioned fourth in the league, with only a four-point cushion separating them from Everton, who sit in tenth.

When asked about his confidence in the team securing Champions League qualification this season, Slot replied, “I am very confident because I work with these players every single day and I see the qualities they possess. However, predicting the future is always challenging. If all our players remain available, I believe we are in a strong position.”

He added, “In football, injuries can occur unexpectedly. I did not anticipate being without Giovanni Leoni, Alexander Isak, and Conor Bradley for such an extended period. Nevertheless, when fit, these players demonstrate that we can compete effectively against any team in the world. So, while I feel optimistic about the future, maintaining player fitness is inherently unpredictable. Even if we face injuries, we will still be capable of competing.”
