Impact of Match Scheduling on Team FanbasesImpact of Match Scheduling on Team Fanbases

In recent months, a growing number of fanbases have expressed their discontent with the scheduling of matches involving their teams. According to a report by @statsPrimera, data from the first 23 matchdays of the Liga indicates that four teams are particularly disadvantaged by the current schedule.

The teams most adversely affected by match timings are Espanyol and Getafe, both of which are set to play eight matches outside the traditional weekend slots during the first 23 games. Meanwhile, Elche and Sevilla will each participate in seven such matches.

Conversely, Barcelona and Real Madrid are notable for having never played, nor are they likely to play, on either a Monday or a Friday.

Among the teams, Getafe stands out as the dominant Friday contender, with six matches scheduled on that day, followed by Elche, Girona, and Real Sociedad, each with five.

On Mondays, Sevilla leads with five matches, followed by Espanyol with four, and Rayo Vallecano and Betis, each with three.

Fans from these teams have taken to social media to voice their grievances, and within stadiums—most visibly in Vallecas—protests have been manifested through banners displayed in the stands.
