Oliver Glasner was appointed as the manager of Crystal Palace in February 2024.

Glasner has stated that he is “100% committed” to Crystal Palace for the duration of his tenure, despite announcing his intention to leave Selhurst Park at the end of the season.

The 51-year-old Austrian manager revealed last week that he declined a new contract offered by the club last summer. He later communicated this decision to chairman Steve Parish.

Frustration has mounted for Glasner regarding the club’s strategy in selling key players. Notably, captain Marc Guehi was sold to Manchester City just a day before a Premier League match against Sunderland on January 17. Additionally, forward Eberechi Eze, another England international, was transferred to Arsenal at the beginning of the Premier League season.

Following a 2-1 defeat to Sunderland, Glasner expressed concerns that his squad was being “abandoned completely” by the club’s leadership. However, he adopted a more conciliatory stance during a recent press conference.

“I had a lengthy dinner with Steve [Parish] this week, where we discussed the situation surrounding Marc’s sale, including the timing and potential replacements,” Glasner shared. “It was a constructive conversation for both of us. I assured him that I am dedicated to achieving a fantastic season, and both Steve and I remain 100% committed.”

Glasner, who led Crystal Palace to their first major trophy by winning the FA Cup against Manchester City last season, indicated he does not regret his post-match comments following the Sunderland defeat. “Was it the best approach? Not necessarily, but that is who I am. I have always been straightforward about my feelings without targeting anyone personally,” he noted.

He also addressed the status of French striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, confirming his availability for the upcoming home game against Chelsea, despite speculation regarding his departure during the transfer window. “No bids have been received, and he has not submitted a transfer request. He will be playing on Sunday; that is the current situation,” Glasner clarified.

“As I mentioned two weeks ago, every player has a price that could prompt the club to consider a deal. Evaluating the situation involves assessing age, contract duration, and a price that the club finds acceptable.”
