N’Golo Kanté Transfer Could Pave the Way for Edson Álvarez’s Future

In Amsterdam and its surroundings, there is hope that N’Golo Kanté will soon transfer from his club Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia to Fenerbahçe. This move could potentially lead to a reunion with Edson Álvarez.

According to club reporter Mike Verweij from De Telegraaf during the podcast Kick Off, Edson Álvarez’s future is largely dependent on the actions of the French star player. It has already been reported that Fenerbahçe is reluctant to part ways with Álvarez, who is currently on loan from West Ham United. Verweij noted, “It is no coincidence that Beuker traveled to that direction after the match against Villarreal. If Kanté, who becomes a free agent after this season, arrives at Fenerbahçe now, there is a significant risk that Álvarez will not see much playing time before the World Cup. This could prompt him to push for a move.”

Álvarez’s salary has already been identified as a contentious issue. If Marijn Beuker intends to bring him to the Johan Cruyff Arena, he will need to present a substantial sum. The midfielder currently earns €6.4 million annually at West Ham United. If the current second-placed team in the Eredivisie takes on his salary, it would amount to €3.2 million for just half a season.
