The transfer market remains active for Girona FC. The Catalan club, which recently transferred Jhon Solís to Birmingham and welcomed new players including Claudio Echeverri, Fran Beltrán, and Ter Stegen, is now on the verge of finalizing a significant deal for its squad. Galatasaray is making a strong push to acquire Yáser Asprilla, seeking to secure him on loan, covering his salary, and potentially committing to a transfer of around 25 million euros if certain performance objectives are met.

Should this deal materialize, Girona’s management would recoup its investment from the summer of 2024, when it acquired Asprilla for 18 million euros, plus additional variables. Despite a promising performance in Girona’s recent match against Espanyol—where he earned a penalty that led to a critical goal for the team—Asprilla’s development has plateaued.

Although this move seemed straightforward as the club aimed to free up a non-EU player spot for Echeverri’s loan, the persistent interest and substantial offer from Galatasaray have revitalized discussions about Asprilla’s potential departure. The player is eager to secure more playing time to bolster his chances of being selected for Colombia’s World Cup squad.

In the coming hours, Girona is also focusing on the potential exit of Dominik Livakovic, which would leave Gazzaniga, Ter Stegen, and Krapyvtsov as the three goalkeepers in Míchel’s first-team roster.
