Fleetwood Town, competing in League Two, has terminated the contract of head coach Pete Wild and his assistant, Adam Temple, following a disappointing performance that saw the team suffer six defeats in their last seven matches.

The decision was announced after a 2-1 loss to Colchester United, marking the fourth defeat in five league fixtures, which left Fleetwood in 15th place, trailing behind the playoff spots by 11 points.

In a statement, the club expressed gratitude to both Pete and Adam for their dedication and professionalism during their tenure, stating, “Everyone at the club would like to place on record their thanks to Pete and Adam for their hard work and professionalism during his time at the club.”

The club assured fans that an update regarding the first team staff will be provided in due course.

Pete Wild, who previously managed Oldham Athletic, Halifax Town, and Barrow, took over the head coach position at Fleetwood in December 2024, succeeding Charlie Adam. Upon his arrival, he inherited a squad that was precariously positioned in 18th, just eight points above the relegation zone. In his first season, he successfully led the team to a 14th-placed finish.

At the start of the current season, the Cod Army appeared to be in good form, sitting ninth in the league, just two points shy of the playoff positions following a 2-1 victory against Gillingham on December 20. However, their performance has since declined, as they have managed to secure only a single point in their last five league outings and have accumulated six losses in their past seven matches across all competitions—matching the total number of defeats they experienced in the previous 28 matches this season.
