Alex Kral Set for 1 Million Transfer to PanathinaikosAlex Kral Set for 1 Million Transfer to Panathinaikos

According to reports from Kicker, 1. FC Union Berlin is nearing the completion of a €1 million transfer of Czech midfielder Alex Kral to Panathinaikos. The 27-year-old currently maintains an estimated market value of €4 million and has made 10 substitute appearances for his Bundesliga team this season.

Although Kral’s contract is expiring and was considered a player that Union aimed to move during the January transfer window, he recently demonstrated his value by playing a significant role in head coach Steffen Baumgart’s “Super Sub” strategy. His latest contribution saw him come off the bench against Augsburg to assist his team in scoring a crucial late equalizer.

Kral initially joined Schalke 04 on loan for the 2022/23 season. The former Spartak Moscow player was allowed to stay in Germany due to a special provision permitting Russian professionals to terminate their contracts amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

After Schalke’s relegation, Kral opted for a transfer to Union Berlin on a free transfer. Following a season with Union, he had also spent last season on loan at RCD Espanyol.

In total, Kral has made 63 appearances in the German top flight. He was part of the Union squad that participated in the 2023/24 Champions League, where he scored his only goal for either of his Bundesliga clubs during the final group stage match against Real Madrid.
