Youssef En-Nesyri has become a prominent name in the final stretch of the transfer market. Recent reports from Italy suggested that the forward was close to a loan deal from Fenerbahçe to Juventus; however, the Moroccan international favored a permanent transfer, leaving negotiations at a standstill. The sporting director, Giorgio Chiellini, stated, “En-Nesyri has reservations about the terms of the loan, and after careful consideration, we have decided to terminate the negotiations. We will not be signing En-Nesyri on a permanent contract,” as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

En-Nesyri retains fond memories of his time at Sevilla, where he won two Europa League titles in 2020 and 2023. He has reportedly inquired about the possibility of returning to Nervión, his home from 2020 to 2024, during this winter transfer window. Sevilla’s priority is to secure a forward in the coming days; however, several conditions must be met. The club needs to create enough salary space to accommodate En-Nesyri’s wages and must receive approval from LaLiga, which has been stringent regarding operations that do not align with clubs’ financial realities.

Furthermore, Fenerbahçe would need to cover nearly all the costs associated with the loan. Last summer, they nearly loaned another Moroccan player, Sofyan Amrabat, to Sevilla, but he ultimately ended up at Betis. While the chances of a reunion between En-Nesyri and Sevilla appear slim, some sources suggest that the Andalusian club is pressuring for a resolution and has asked the player to remain patient until the end of the transfer window.

As the search for a forward intensifies, the name of Neal Maupay, currently with Olympique de Marseille, is gaining traction. The French club is negotiating with Paris FC, Lille, and Sevilla to find a suitable arrangement for the Franco-Argentinian, who fits the profile the Nervionenses are looking for. Cordón must create salary space to facilitate the arrival of new reinforcements as the countdown to the transfer market closure begins.
