Andy Robertson has made only four Premier League starts for Liverpool this season.

Currently, Liverpool is unlikely to transfer left-back Andy Robertson to Tottenham during the ongoing transfer window. Following a £5 million offer from Spurs for the player, whose contract expires this summer, the club has decided not to proceed with the deal.

An in-principle agreement was reached between the two clubs last week, suggesting that the transfer could take place after Liverpool’s final Champions League match on Wednesday. However, this potential deal was contingent upon Liverpool’s ability to recall left-back Kostas Tsimikas from his loan spell at Roma, a move they have yet to accomplish.

Additionally, defender Joe Gomez sustained an injury that forced him to exit the match in the first half during Saturday’s Premier League defeat against Bournemouth. It is understood that Robertson is not actively seeking a transfer, although the Scotland captain is eager to secure more playing time before the upcoming World Cup.

Liverpool originally signed Robertson from Hull City for £8 million in 2017 during Jurgen Klopp’s tenure. Since then, he has made 364 appearances for the club and garnered nine trophies, including two Premier League titles and the Champions League.

However, under Arne Slot, he has fallen out of favor as the first-choice left-back, with Milos Kerkez now preferred. Robertson did come off the bench to replace Kerkez against Bournemouth, but his limited starts this season raise concerns about his role.

Following the match, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk expressed a desire for Robertson to remain at the club, highlighting his significance as a “very important” member of the squad.

As defending champions, Liverpool currently ranks sixth in the league, trailing leaders Arsenal by 14 points. Nonetheless, they are well-positioned to advance to the Champions League last 16 and will face Brighton in the fourth round of the FA Cup next month.

The transfer window will close on February 2.
