Wanner, born in Dornbirn, Austria, holds dual nationality, allowing him to choose between Germany and Austria for his international career. At only twenty years old, he has decided to switch allegiance to his birth country, potentially opening the door for participation in the 2026 World Cup.

After a challenging start in Eindhoven, Wanner has successfully secured a starting position in Peter Bosz’s squad. Out of the last ten matches, he has started nine, demonstrating his versatility by performing in multiple roles, including as a defensive midfielder, attacking midfielder, and on the wings. To date, Wanner has scored three goals for the reigning champions.
