Ajax is currently experiencing considerable turmoil. This week, the Amsterdam club decided to part ways with head coach John Heitinga, while technical director Alex Kroes also offered to resign. According to journalist Valentijn Driessen, the problems at Ajax are accumulating, and the club must prioritize finding a replacement for Kroes first.

In his commentary for De Telegraaf, Driessen critically evaluates Kroes’ performance. He states, “The first mistake was appointing Heitinga as head coach and Marcel Keizer as assistant coach; the positions should have been reversed from the outset. The squad is unbalanced; he was expected to implement Ajax’s style of football and secure at least a second-place finish, which was essential for Champions League revenue.”
