Javier Tebas Discusses Current Football Issues at Madrid Sports Press GalaJavier Tebas Discusses Current Football Issues at Madrid Sports Press Gala

omidbasir- Javier Tebas was among the distinguished guests at the tenth gala of the Madrid Sports Press Association, where he reviewed current issues in football.

Regarding the state of Camp Nou, Tebas remarked, “It is a stadium that is not finished and is under construction. I imagine that when anyone is halfway through a project, such issues may arise. We will need to assess it once completed. These matters should be understood.”

On the Miami match, he stated, “We will continue working towards achieving this at some point in the future.”

When asked about the upcoming Barcelona elections and his support, he replied, “I am not aware of the official candidates, nor am I backing anyone; this is a matter for Barcelona.”

Tebas also compared the Rayo Vallecano stadium to that of Barcelona, stating, “These are two issues that cannot be compared. The president of Rayo himself acknowledges that his stadium is not in condition, which is accurate. We have been saying this for years. In contrast, the Barcelona stadium is under renovation, and such incidents occur during construction. If it were completed, we would be discussing it differently. However, everyone knows it is one of the best stadiums in the world, and these occurrences happen.”

Regarding calls for a change in stadium location, he noted, “I affirm that the stadium is not in suitable conditions. Beyond that, it falls within the club’s domain, and I won’t delve into that matter.”

Addressing the recent complaints concerning player lawsuits, he clarified, “He knows this is not pressure at all. There is a pause and a clear regulation regarding this issue. It is not pressure. When disagreements arise, if we cannot reach an agreement, we let a third party decide. Understand that turning to the courts is a civilized action; when people cannot agree, they resort to legal intervention.”

Reflecting on past instances of litigation against his organization, he stated, “I do not complain about judicial interventions; I merely provide the objective data that there are over 100 lawsuits. People assess whether it is normal to have this many lawsuits regarding audiovisual regulations. Citizens have the right to do so. I recall the cases of Elche and Murcia. When a club approaches me saying they disagree and wish to go to court, I encourage them to defend their position. I only provide objective data; my complaints arise when I receive a lawsuit that gets dismissed while multiple allegations are filed against me with the sole intent of dismantling me, as President Pérez has stated numerous times.”

When questioned about concerns over potential disqualification in February, he remarked, “No, you all have more information than I do about whether that will be decided in February. As Galán suggests in the messages he sends to you, you pay a lot of attention to many people.”

As for Miguel Galán, Tebas commented, “He can do as he pleases. He has the right to act according to his own judgment, and others can choose to heed him or not. I don’t spend much time worrying about Galán.”

On whether Real Madrid would change its ownership model, he stated, “That is a decision for Real Madrid and its members, and I have no say in that. I also lack information; there isn’t much available for anyone to form a well-founded opinion.”

In response to chants for Florentino Pérez’s resignation, he said, “I hear that from many people in various venues. When someone is upset, the fans express their feelings.”

Regarding the possibility of the courts siding with him in the lawsuit against the players, he indicated, “We have filed it with the expectation of a favorable outcome. AFE believes otherwise. It is not of major significance, honestly.”

Finally, when asked if he would be interested in becoming president of Real Madrid one day, he answered, “No, not at all. I have neither the desire nor the age for it; I have enough responsibilities with LaLiga.”
