omidbasir- Manu Sánchez, a player for Levante and a former Atlético Madrid youth product, was the center of attention during a press conference held on Wednesday, ahead of the anticipated match between the Valencian side and Atlético Madrid at the Ciutat de Valencia.

Reflecting on the team’s recent home victory, Sánchez expressed relief: “After a long period without winning at home, there was some tension, but we finally secured our first win, and I hope this is the beginning of many more. True, several of those matches were against strong opponents, yet the team has managed to achieve positive results, and we still have a postponed match to play. We need to maintain this positive momentum.”

Regarding the significance of facing the team where his career began, he stated, “This match is particularly special for me, as I came through their youth ranks and made my debut for the first team. I hope to score again, as I did in the first leg, but this time with a positive outcome for the team.”

On a personal level, Sánchez noted his current form: “I feel good. The new coach asks for different things than we were previously accustomed to, and I am adapting to perform to the best of my ability and contribute in any way I can.”

Discussing his transition to a more defensive role, he remarked, “It may seem like I am adopting a less offensive version of my previous self or that I am less involved in that capacity. However, the coach communicates with us, especially me, and emphasizes the need for me to excel defensively and ensure we are not caught off guard.”

Sánchez reflected on his experience leaving Atlético’s academy: “Atlético boasts one of the best squads in national football, making it challenging to secure playing time there. After my departure to Osasuna, I adapted quickly despite coming from such a prestigious club. Throughout my career, I have played for various teams and have adjusted well. I learned a great deal in both the academy and the first team, and I continue to incorporate lessons from my time at Atlético Madrid into my game today.”

Looking ahead to the upcoming match on Saturday, he noted, “Atlético is a team that adapts well to different playing styles. They don’t necessarily need to win by a large margin to feel comfortable; ultimately, they remain unfazed even without significant wins. Of course, for fans, a more emphatic victory is preferable, but in the end, three points are just as valuable. What matters most is the win.”

Lastly, on the internal dynamics of the team during the transfer window, Sánchez shared, “We approach it very calmly. I see the group as highly connected and focused on our objectives. I don’t see anyone distracted or preoccupied with other matters; rather, the team appears very committed.”
