omidbasir- Raheem Sterling has mutually parted ways with Chelsea, concluding his contract with the club early.

The 31-year-old forward had 18 months remaining on his lucrative deal, reportedly worth £325,000 per week.

Sterling’s departure follows a three-and-a-half-year tenure at Stamford Bridge, where he was acquired from Manchester City for £47.5 million in 2022.

In a statement, Chelsea expressed gratitude for Sterling’s contributions during his time with the club, wishing him well for the next chapter in his career.

During his spell at Chelsea, Sterling made 81 appearances but has not featured in a competitive match since May 2024. He had been training separately alongside several other players deemed surplus to requirements at the club’s Cobham training base after failing to secure a transfer in the summer.

There has been interest from several clubs, including Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen, for the England international, although a potential transfer to Fulham did not materialize.

It is believed that Sterling, who began his professional career at Liverpool and has amassed a total of 13 trophies, is eager to remain in London but is open to opportunities both domestically and internationally.

Sterling initially signed a five-year contract worth £325,000 per week, relocating his young family as part of the move.

The transfer from Manchester City was a significant statement by Todd Boehly, who was serving as the sporting director at the time, alongside Clearlake Capital.

However, the key figures involved in that deal are no longer in leadership roles at Chelsea.

With Boehly’s influence waning, Sterling’s time at the club saw him work under multiple managers, including Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, Frank Lampard, and most recently, Mauricio Pochettino. Despite his initial success, where he made 81 appearances and scored 19 goals, Chelsea’s new manager Enzo Maresca ultimately decided to exclude Sterling from his first-team plans.

As a result, Sterling did not make any further appearances for the club and spent the previous season on an unremarkable loan at Arsenal.

Further updates will follow as the situation develops.
