omidbasir- Stije Resink will not be transferring from FC Groningen to Benfica this winter. The Portuguese club had expressed interest in the 22-year-old midfielder, but he has been deemed unavailable for transfer, reportedly leading to angry reactions from Lisbon.

Benfica has angrily ceased its pursuit of Stije Resink. Last week, it became clear that Benfica was eager to intensify its efforts in acquiring Resink, even enlisting the help of coach José Mourinho, who personally reached out to the Groningen captain. Initially, Resink indicated his intention to complete the season at Euroborg, but he later reconsidered his stance. However, FC Groningen’s director, Frank van Mosselveld, stated to the Dagblad van het Noorden on Wednesday that Resink is not for sale.

Ultimately, FC Groningen concluded that it would not entertain a sale of Resink, a decision that Van Mosselveld communicated to Benfica. The Portuguese side reacted with indignation, promptly ending their pursuit of the promising player. “The Portuguese club believes it is impossible to engage in negotiations when the general director makes one statement, and the board communicates another.”
