Jorgen Strand Larsen signed a five-year contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers in September.

Crystal Palace is preparing to make a formal offer for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen. Sources have informed BBC Sport that Palace’s interest in the 25-year-old forward has intensified in the past 24 hours, with a bid anticipated from the club at Selhurst Park.

Wolves are open to selling the Norway international this month, provided they receive a fee close to the £55 million they previously rejected from Newcastle during the summer transfer window.

Leeds United has already seen an offer of £40 million turned down by Wolves, and at this stage, the club is hesitant to increase their bid significantly.

Palace’s pursuit of Strand Larsen adds further uncertainty regarding Jean-Philippe Mateta’s future at Selhurst Park as the transfer window nears its conclusion. Mateta has expressed his desire to leave the club and has communicated his intentions to the club’s management.

Juventus and AC Milan are among the clubs showing concrete interest in the French international, while Nottingham Forest recently submitted an offer of approximately £35 million for Mateta over the weekend.

Mateta reportedly aims to compete in Champions League football, though a move to Forest presents a financially appealing option for the 28-year-old. The potential transfer of Strand Larsen to Palace could expedite Mateta’s plans to leave this month.
