omidbasir- Gerard Fernández, known as Peque, visited the press room at Sevilla’s sports city earlier today. The team is currently preparing for their upcoming match against Mallorca on Monday, February 2. Almeyda’s squad will conclude the 22nd round of the league at 21:00 hours. Following a recent 2-2 draw against Elche and a 2-1 victory over Athletic, the players from Nervión are eager to solidify their positive momentum.

“The last match was very good. It was a victory we had been seeking, and it is crucial for us. This will instill a lot of confidence for what lies ahead, particularly the upcoming match against Mallorca, which we know will be very challenging. Their home record speaks for itself; they are becoming quite strong. We must give our all to secure the three points,” he stated.

On his personal performance, he remarked, “I am pleased; the coach is providing me with a lot of confidence, and I aim to give my maximum effort on the field, as that is what truly matters. This could very well be one of my best personal moments, but I know I can offer even more.”

Regarding new teammate Maupay, he said, “I’ve had two training sessions with him, and it’s great to gradually get to know him. He is integrating well with the team, and we are committed to assisting him in adapting as quickly as possible so he can contribute his skills to us. It is important to add more players to our cause.”

He emphasized the unity within the group, stating, “The team is very close-knit. There are many players who, when things get tough, strive to convey confidence and composure. We have experienced players, and we are fortunate to have numerous leaders in the locker room who support us in every way.”

Reflecting on his previous season, he noted, “Last year was my first in the top division, and it required some adjustment time. While I’m not entirely satisfied with the season, I am pleased with the work ethic. Persistence leads to results in the end. I am very happy with Matías, as he instills a great deal of confidence in all of us, and we are all working hard to advance.”

On his role on the pitch, he commented, “I try to adapt to whatever position I am assigned. I feel comfortable just behind the forwards, and as I mentioned, I aim to adjust in any way necessary to aid the team.”

He expressed his appreciation for the fans, saying, “Receiving applause from the crowd is a beautiful experience for any player, and I am grateful to our supporters. I believe I am performing well, but I have much more to give.”

Finally, addressing the transfer market, he concluded, “I want to succeed here, both individually and collectively, so I have no reason to look elsewhere. Regarding the market, I can’t provide insights as it is not my responsibility. What I can say is that those of us here are working diligently to improve our situation. If a new addition comes, they will be warmly welcomed.”
