Winter Transfer Window Update Key Moves and RumorsWinter Transfer Window Update Key Moves and Rumors

omidbasir- The winter transfer window in Europe is rapidly approaching its conclusion, and significant activity is underway. Here are the latest updates and insights into the most noteworthy transfer news.

Karim Benzema, currently under contract with Al Ittihad until June, has expressed a desire to extend his stay at the club. However, negotiations for a new deal have soured, with Benzema feeling undervalued. ESPN sources reveal that the Saudi Pro League’s offer, which operates the contracts of key players at PIF-owned clubs, would effectively see the 38-year-old playing for minimal compensation.

In light of this, Benzema has declined the offer and distanced himself from the first team. He is now contemplating various options, which include a possible return to Europe or a move to Major League Soccer.

Meanwhile, Liam Rosenior has refuted rumors linking Chelsea’s Cole Palmer with a transfer to Manchester United. While United recognizes Palmer’s long-standing support for the club and his strong ties to Manchester, they acknowledge that he remains a crucial player for Chelsea, under contract until 2033. Conversations about Palmer moving to United have been informal and there is no set timeline. Should Bruno Fernandes depart this summer, Palmer may emerge as a potential replacement, yet any transfer fee would be substantial, given United’s focus on strengthening their midfield this summer.

Additionally, Manchester City has concluded its major signings for January after securing Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guéhi. Although a right-back is on the agenda for the summer, City officials have firmly stated they have no interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold and have had no discussions regarding his potential return to the Premier League.

In Wrexham, manager Phil Parkinson is looking to enhance the team’s attacking options, eyeing Angers forward Sidiki Cherif. However, the anticipated £19 million fee for the 19-year-old exceeds the club’s valuation. With the transfer deadline looming, Parkinson aims to streamline his squad to avoid an unwieldy number of players. Recent loan moves include Conor Coady to Charlton Athletic and Paul Mullin nearing a loan to Bradford City.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s plans for defender Andrew Robertson appear to have changed. Initially open to discussions with Tottenham, Liverpool has since determined that due to limited defensive options, they cannot allow Robertson to leave and he is likely to remain at Anfield until his contract expires this summer.

Furthermore, Manchester United’s target, Mohamed Kader Meïté, is set to join Al Hilal following Rennes’ acceptance of a €30 million offer plus €3 million in add-ons. United had been monitoring Meïté for a potential summer transfer.

Brighton & Hove Albion have also shown interest in Reims midfielder Patrick Zabi, who has been exceptional in Ligue 2 this season. Reims is seeking a minimum transfer fee of €30 million for the promising 19-year-old.

Oleksandr Zinchenko is on the verge of joining Ajax on loan until the season’s end after a less than satisfactory spell with Nottingham Forest.

Lastly, West Ham has secured a clause allowing them to re-sign Lucas Paquetá should he depart Flamengo, where he is completing a €41.25 million transfer. Additionally, Orlando City’s César Araujo is being considered as a viable option for Liga MX side Tigres, while Germán Berterame’s transfer to Inter Miami is reportedly imminent, with the deal rumored to be valued at approximately $15 million.
