Burglary Strikes Love Island Host Maya Jama and Manchester City Defender Ruben DiasBurglary Strikes Love Island Host Maya Jama and Manchester City Defender Ruben Dias

Maya Jama, the host of Love Island, and Ruben Dias, a player for Manchester City, are reportedly devastated after their Cheshire home was burglarized on Wednesday evening.

The break-in occurred while Jama, 31, was filming Love Island in South Africa, and Dias, 28, was attending Manchester City’s Champions League match against Galatasaray.

A spokesperson from Cheshire Police confirmed to the BBC, “Shortly after 11:10 PM on Wednesday, January 28, police received reports of a burglary at a residence in Alderley Edge. Officers responded and discovered that entry had been gained to the property, and several items had been stolen. Investigations are currently underway.”

The couple, who moved into their new home together late last year, had previously lived in separate cities, with Dias based in Manchester City Centre and Jama residing in London. They reportedly met in Manchester at the MTV European Music Awards in November 2024 and announced their relationship in April 2025.

Dias, who has been a defender for Manchester City since joining Pep Guardiola’s squad in 2020, recently extended his contract for an additional two years as of August 2025. Jama, who has hosted Love Island since 2023, shared images of their new home during Christmas and recently informed her Instagram followers about owning properties in London, the Cotswolds, and Cheshire.

Their Cheshire residence is situated in an area frequented by current and former Premier League footballers. A source close to the couple stated that they are heartbroken over the burglary.

This incident is not isolated, as other high-profile footballers in the area, including Dias’ teammate Jack Grealish, who is currently on loan at Everton, as well as former Manchester City players Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez, have also been targeted by burglars. It remains unclear if all incidents were perpetrated by the same group, but they share similar circumstances.

In unrelated news, Love Island star Dr. Alex George is advocating for reduced waiting times for neurodivergent assessments after incurring significant expenses for private testing. Additionally, filming for the third series of Love Island: All Stars has been postponed, with ITV yet to announce a resumption date.
