Karim Benzema Feels Disrespected by Al Ittihad Contract OfferKarim Benzema Feels Disrespected by Al Ittihad Contract Offer

omidbasir- Karim Benzema has expressed feelings of disrespect regarding the contract extension offered to him by Al Ittihad, as reported by sources to ESPN.

The 38-year-old French striker opted to remove himself from the first team squad and is currently training independently.

In Benzema’s absence, Al Ittihad played to a 2-2 draw against Al Fateh in the Saudi Pro League. Saleh Al-Shehri stepped in to fill Benzema’s role, scoring the opening goal in the 25th minute. Following this draw, Al Ittihad now sits in sixth place in the league standings.

The 2022 Ballon d’Or winner’s contract is set to expire this summer. Reports indicate that the proposed deal from the Saudi Pro League, which oversees the contracts of key players within PIF-owned clubs, would significantly undervalue his contributions, effectively meaning he would play for minimal compensation.

Benzema, who previously captained Real Madrid and secured 25 trophies, including four La Liga titles, three Copa del Rey titles, and five Champions League titles, has maintained commendable performance this season, netting eight goals in 14 league appearances.

As he considers his future options, other developments are occurring within the team. France winger Moussa Diaby is rumoured to be leaving the club, while midfielder N’Golo Kanté is reportedly very close to finalizing terms with Fenerbahçe. Kanté’s contract is also set to expire this summer, following three seasons in the Saudi Pro League. Ongoing negotiations between Al Ittihad and Fenerbahçe regarding a transfer fee aim to prevent Kanté from departing on a free transfer.
