Wim Kieft Discusses Ajax s Promising FutureWim Kieft Discusses Ajax s Promising Future

Wim Kieft envisions a relatively bright future for Ajax. The Amsterdam club is not only eyeing the second position in the league but also has long-term reasons for optimism.

In his column for De Telegraaf, Kieft writes, “In Eindhoven, they appear on course for an unthreatened third consecutive title, but Feyenoord can feel Ajax breathing down their neck. If Robin van Persie and his team manage to win or even draw against the league leaders, it would be a sporting miracle.” Should Feyenoord lose, Ajax would only need a favorable result against Excelsior to ascend to second place.

Kieft also emphasizes the necessity for a new defensive midfielder, stating that Youri Regeer is “not good enough” for the role. He advocates for Ajax to recruit someone with significant drive, experience, and leadership qualities, such as Jordan Henderson from last season. “He wasn’t that bad,” Kieft adds. “This needs to happen quickly, as the transfer window closes on Tuesday.”
