omidbasir- Paul Mullin, the renowned striker, has departed Wrexham to join fellow footballing legend James McClean, as he embarks on a new chapter with Bradford City.

The 31-year-old Mullin’s arrival was announced on X, where he will contribute to Bradford’s ambitions for promotion from League One this season. The Bantams secured automatic promotion from League Two on the final day of the previous season and have begun their current campaign with impressive momentum, currently holding fifth place in League One. Mullin, who netted five goals during a loan spell at Wigan earlier this season, is set to bolster their offensive capabilities in the quest for promotion.

In contrast, Wrexham has made significant strides, recently achieving a remarkable 3-2 comeback victory against Queens Park Rangers, placing them in the Championship’s top six. They are ambitiously targeting a remarkable fourth consecutive promotion.

Wrexham invested heavily in the summer, which limited Mullin’s opportunities in the second tier, despite his impressive record of 110 goals in 172 appearances for the club. The club confirmed his loan move to Bradford City until the end of the 2025/26 season in a statement on their website.

Wrexham AFC stated, “Paul Mullin has signed on loan for Bradford City until the end of the 2025/26 season. The back-to-back promotion winner started this season on loan at Wigan Athletic, scoring five goals. After returning to Wrexham in January, he will now join Graham Alexander’s Bantams, who are currently fighting for play-off positions in League One.”

Manager Phil Parkinson expressed: “We are thrilled for Paul; this presents a fantastic opportunity for him to be part of a team competing at the top of the league.” The club extended their best wishes to Mullin and Bradford for the remainder of the season.

In his first remarks as a Bradford player, Mullin shared, “I am eager to get to Valley Parade and play for the supporters. This move is a significant boost for me; I’m over the moon and can’t wait to begin. I thrive in high-pressure situations, and the expectations here are something I welcome.”

City manager Graham Alexander noted, “Paul brings a wealth of experience and an ability to score a variety of goals. His pressing style will be beneficial for the team. With his history of promotions, he will enhance our already winning mentality.”

Wrexham remains ambitious as they navigate the 2025/26 season. The decision to release club icons like Mullin and McClean is seen as a difficult yet essential step for solidifying their position in the Championship, with aspirations for a first-ever Premier League promotion.

Since their takeover in 2020 by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Wrexham has consistently defied expectations. Achieving another promotion this season would mark their most significant success to date. Next, the Red Dragons will face bottom-placed Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, aiming to strengthen their hold on a play-off spot.

Mullin’s contributions to the club’s success will not be forgotten, and he will undoubtedly be remembered as a club legend at the Racecourse for years to come.
