omidbasir- John Terry, the former England defender and five-time Premier League champion with Chelsea, recently sold more than fifty items from his personal collection through Goldin Auctions, an American auction house based in New Jersey.

The auction concluded with total sales exceeding $695,000, including the buyer’s premium. Among the noteworthy items were a match-worn and photo-matched jersey of Lionel Messi from his time at Barcelona and a match-worn, photo-matched, and signed jersey of Cristiano Ronaldo from his tenure at Manchester United.

The Messi jersey, worn during Chelsea’s Champions League group stage match against Barcelona on October 18, 2006, fetched an impressive $183,000. Meanwhile, the Ronaldo jersey, worn during the Premier League match against United on April 26, 2008, sold for $115,900, setting a record for a Ronaldo jersey.

Additional standout items included match-worn jerseys from Thierry Henry and Gianluigi Buffon. Henry’s jersey, worn during the “Invincibles Season” on October 18, 2003, against Chelsea, sold for $98,820, while Buffon’s gold jersey from the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 match on March 10, 2009, garnered $22,265, marking the highest sales for jerseys of both players.

The auction also featured a selection of Terry’s own jerseys from England, Chelsea, and Aston Villa, alongside match-worn jerseys from iconic players such as Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Paolo Maldini, and many others.

Additionally, Terry consigned several trophies, the most valuable being his 2007 replica player-issued FA Cup champion trophy, which sold for $26,840. The auction included a collection of his captain’s armbands from his time with England, Chelsea, and Aston Villa, numerous pairs of match-worn cleats, and two pairs of match-worn shin guards.

A portion of the auction’s proceeds will benefit the John Terry Foundation, which aims to support disadvantaged youth across the United Kingdom.
