Albert Riera’s appointment as the new head coach of Eintracht Frankfurt has been officially confirmed. According to Kicker, the Bundesliga club successfully negotiated a reduction of Riera’s release fee from his Slovenian club, NK Celje, from €5 million to under €1 million. Riera will remain with Celje for their upcoming PrvaLiga match this Sunday.

Eintracht Frankfurt has acknowledged that Riera requested to lead one final game for his former club. An official announcement regarding his new role is scheduled for Monday. Those interested in how Riera will engage with the German media will have the opportunity to assess the new head coach during a press conference on Monday, though the exact time has yet to be disclosed. For the time being, Eintracht will continue under the interim coaching team during this weekend’s fixtures.

In a statement, Markus Krösche, the Board Member for Sport at Eintracht, emphasized, “With Albert Riera, we have intentionally chosen a coach who embodies modern and intense attacking football. He brings international experience, a well-defined playing philosophy, and a clear approach to his daily work with the team. Albert impressed us with his professionalism and strong communication skills.”

Krösche added, “We have been monitoring him for quite some time and are confident that his skills will align well with Eintracht Frankfurt’s needs both in the short and long term. Additionally, we believe he is a good fit for the club and our team on a personal level.”
