Noni Madueke delivered an outstanding performance for Arsenal in their 4-0 victory over Leeds, stepping in just five minutes before kick-off after Bukayo Saka sustained a hip injury during the warm-up.

Upon entering the match, the England international immediately became the driving force behind Arsenal’s first-half dominance. In the 27th minute, Madueke provided a pinpoint cross that Martin Zubimendi converted with a header to score the opening goal. Shortly thereafter, his inswinging corner created chaos in the Leeds defense, resulting in an own goal by goalkeeper Karl Darlow, who inadvertently punched the ball off the woodwork and into his own net under pressure from Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Madueke’s impressive performance earned him the Man of the Match accolade, helping Arsenal maintain a seven-point lead at the top of the Premier League.

Following the match, Madueke expressed his confusion over the own goal decision, stating, “How can that be an own goal? It was going on target; if the keeper’s not in the goal, then it goes in. I don’t understand how that’s an own goal. Premier League, please take a look at that and fix it for me.”

Declan Rice also commented on the match, saying, “Off the back of the last three performances, we knew how significant today’s match was. Winning 4-0 is a massive boost for us. We can only control what we can control, and we need to keep winning games. So far, we are at the top of the Premier League and have won eight out of eight in the Champions League. We are in a strong position with a very good squad, and every game feels like a cup final. We have a long four months ahead, but we are prepared to give it our all.”

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta lauded the team’s performance, stating, “Winning 4-0 here is very challenging; let’s see when that happens again. Huge credit to the boys. The team displayed remarkable dominance, resilience, character, and quality. I was particularly impressed with the team’s attitude.”

Looking ahead, Arsenal faces a crucial showdown against London rivals Chelsea in the League Cup semi-final second leg, entering the match with a 3-2 lead. The team will then shift its focus back to the Premier League, where Sunderland visits the Emirates. With Martin Zubimendi finding his scoring rhythm and Viktor Gyokeres starting to perform well up front, the Gunners are eager to move on from their recent 3-2 home defeat to Manchester United.
