Valencia CEO Ron Gourlay Discusses Winter Transfer Window and Club ProgressValencia CEO Ron Gourlay Discusses Winter Transfer Window and Club Progress

Ron Gourlay, the CEO of Valencia Football Club, has stated that it is “unlikely” the club will make additional signings in the final hours of the winter transfer window. In remarks made to Movistar ahead of the match against Betis, he confirmed that the club’s strategic planning has been executed as intended.

Thus far, Valencia has strengthened its squad with the additions of Sadiq, Guido Rodríguez, and Unai Núñez, but has not finalized any player departures. Such movements would allow the club to possibly recruit further, particularly a winger, as requested by coach Corberán.

“We set our goals before the market opened, and I believe we have achieved them,” the Scottish executive stated, emphasizing that the team’s focus is firmly on the upcoming match.

When asked about the possibility of a last-minute transfer, Gourlay acknowledged that football always leaves room for the unexpected but reiterated that he does not anticipate any significant developments. “In football, you can never say never, as anything can happen, but it is improbable,” he noted. He added that the club has met its objectives for squad enhancement and, while they will remain vigilant to any potential changes, he asserted that it is not likely at this stage.

The sports executive also took the opportunity to reflect on the project initiated during the last summer window. “I believe we began a transition within the club last summer. Such processes can take time,” he explained. He acknowledged the “expectations of Valencia and its fans” and emphasized that the daily efforts of everyone involved are directed towards meeting those expectations.

“We are all working hard every day to achieve our objectives, and we will continue to do so,” he stated, offering a positive assessment of the progress made thus far: “We know what we need to do and the path we must take to achieve it, so the overall balance is positive.”
