El Betis Prepares for Last Minute Changes in Transfer MarketEl Betis Prepares for Last Minute Changes in Transfer Market

El Betis approaches the final day of the winter transfer market having met the primary request of their coach, Manuel Pellegrini, by strengthening the team’s creative midfield. However, the club remains vigilant for opportunities to add another attacking player to the roster.

The official signing of Álvaro Fidalgo addresses the significant gaps left by the injuries of Isco and Lo Celso, both of whom are currently without a set return date. Nonetheless, the Sports Management continues to explore alternatives for the forward position.

The green and white team has managed to incorporate the Asturian midfielder within their salary cap due to a low-cost transfer and a long-term contract that spreads out the amortization. To secure a second reinforcement, the club emphasizes the necessity of a player departure. With Fidalgo joining, all 25 roster spots in the first team are filled, directing attention in the final hours of the transfer window, particularly towards Cédric Bakambu.

The Congolese forward has received offers from teams in Spain, including Oviedo and Alavés, as well as interest from outside LaLiga in Italy and Saudi Arabia. However, personal considerations lead him to hesitate on whether this is the right time for a change, a move he had anticipated making next summer when his contract with Betis expires. In recent days, the club has met with Bakambu to assess his willingness to accept one of the offers he has received. As long as there are open options for his departure, the club will not conclude its transfer activities, both in terms of exits and potential arrivals.

Led by Manu Fajardo, the Sports Management has identified up to six promising options to enhance the forward line and provide quality rotations for Cucho Hernández. However, the arrival of any of these players hinges on Bakambu’s departure or on an unexpected last-minute offer for a player whose exit would not pose a significant issue for Pellegrini. With just over twelve hours left to finalize a squad that still aims for success in La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the UEFA Europa League.
