Former Newcastle winger Allan Saint-Maximin has mutually parted ways with Liga MX club Club América, following allegations that his children were subjected to racist abuse.

Earlier this week, the 28-year-old Frenchman took to social media to voice his concerns about his family’s experiences. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Saint-Maximin stated, “The problem is not the colour of your skin, it’s the colour of your thoughts.

“I’m being attacked, not a problem — I grew up, I learned to fight against attacks … but there’s one thing I will never tolerate: my kids being picked on.

“Protecting my children is my priority, and I will fight to ensure they are respected and loved, regardless of their background or skin colour. Hate and discrimination have no place in our society.

“So to those who dared to mess with my kids, I’m telling you: you made a mistake. I will always fight to protect mine, and there is no person or threat that will intimidate me.”

Neither Saint-Maximin nor Club América provided specific details regarding the incident.

Following the announcement of his departure, Club América issued a statement reinforcing their condemnation of any acts of discrimination or violence that undermine human dignity, both on and off the field. They expressed unwavering support for Allan Saint-Maximin and his family, stating, “We express our absolute solidarity with Allan Saint-Maximin and his family, who have the support of everyone who is part of this institution.”

Club coach André Jardine commented, “Regarding Maximin, he’s a fantastic player with the ability to succeed in any league around the world. We wish him all the best.”
